Today we had the option to visit both parks!
We started off by visiting disneyland… the calmer park in regards to rides – yet the busier of the two.
We spent the day mostly re-doing our favourite rides. Pooh’s hunny hunt was high on the list, as were the ‘mountain rides’ (Sydney and Karis’ favourites!) We also did some shopping!!
One of Karis’ big highlights of the day was the discovery of the “Traditional Japanese toilets” in a washroom close by Pooh’s hunny hunt. When we first went in, and opened a stall, Sydney gasped in Horror! Karis however yelled, “COOL!!!” and ran into her own stall, locking me out. When I finally insisted that she open the door so I could at least brief her on how to use it, she let me in – but only for a moment.
Seeing as she was fine on her own, I went in with Sydney.
This was a two person job according to Sydney.
With instructions to Karis over the stall wall to “stay in there until we are done” we took time to video tape the weird concoction in the floor. Always the drama queen, Sydney was very verbal on her thoughts of this strange toilet for the camera. After shutting off the recording, we went to work.
After we had successfully yet again scarred Sydney for life, we allowed Karis out of her stall and met Ron outside.
He too was disturbed and came out with a picture for us to share with you!
(We may have only had another 2 1/2 days in Tokyo, but for Karis, that time was spent in a constant search for another toilet just like this one!)
In the early evening, we made our way over to Disney sea. We did some shopping and went on some rides.
The jet lag had affected Ron and Sydney more then it did for Karis and I, and by 7:00, they were ready to fall asleep. They took the bus back to the Hotel while Karis and I stayed and re-did some rides – Including Journey to the center of the earth! Once again, it was “SO COOL!”
We arrived back at the hotel about 1 1/2 hours after Ron and Sydney. We didn’t have a key.
As we approached our door, I see there is a mini party consisting of about 8 Japanese men in the hallway outside our room.
I knock on our door quietly.
no response.
I knock again a bit louder.
still nothing.
I imagine Ron sleeping inside doing his freight train snore. I get irritated.
I knock again. Louder.
The door beside our room opens and a Japanese man peers out at me. Realizing that I’m not knocking on his door, and probably startled by my white skin, he slams it shut.
Great.
I knock again on our door while the 8 Japanese men continue to talk in Japanese.
I think they are talking about me.
I look at them and smirk… pretending that I know Japanese and that I know what they are saying and that they aren’t getting away with it.
I knock again. Loud enough that I think Ron should hear me, yet quiet enough that dude next door won’t open his door again.
Still nothing.
The 8 Japanese men continue to chat.
With a final smirk towards them, I drag Karis back to the elevator. We go downstairs.
Now I have to find someone who speaks english so I can call our room.
The first Lady I see I say, “DO… YOU… SPEAK… ENGLISH???”
She looks scared and motions towards an employee on the phone. I wait until he hangs up.
Lucky me, he does!
I explain slowly that my husband won’t fricken wake up and we need to get in the room. He lets me phone.
Ron answers groggily.
“We have been KNOCKING on the DOOR and you won’t WAKE UP! Can you PLEASE let us in the ROOM in exactly ONE minute!!!!???!!”
The lady – the one who doesn’t speak english and seems scared of me – is instructed in Japanese to follow me to the room. I assume this is for Ron’s protection…?
As we ride up in the elevator together there is an awkward silence. I decide to tell her that Ron is sleeping and use overly animated actions to convey this. She smiles, giggles nervously and bows.
Uncomfortably I smile…
We push through the 8 men who I’m still sure are discussing me. With a final smirk towards them and an awkward bow towards the lady, Ron lets me in the room.
Success!
“please let me in the room now” Shannon
